Dear Dragons Families,
Welcome to T.H.E. Leadership Academy! As we embark on a new academic year, I would like to extend a warm welcome to all of our returning families and a heartfelt greeting to those joining our school community for the first time. We are excited to have you as part of our family!
We are proud to provide a nurturing and enriching educational experience that promotes both academic excellence and the personal growth of our students. To achieve this goal, we have implemented various programs that foster leadership and 21st century skills that empower our students to become confident, responsible individuals.
The Leader in Me program is based on Stephen Covey’s “The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People” and is designed to instill essential life skills in our students. Through the program, our young leaders learn valuable principles such as responsibility, goal setting, teamwork and effective communication. These skills not only benefit them during their time at our school but also lay a strong foundation for their future success as they navigate the complexities of life.
In addition to our commitment to leadership development, I am thrilled to announce that T.H.E. Leadership Academy has been recognized by Apple as a Distinguished School. This prestigious designation is awarded to schools that demonstrate innovative and effective use of iPad technology in education. We believe that technology is a powerful tool for enhancing learning experiences and preparing our students for the digital world they will inherit. This recognition reflects our dedication to integrating technology seamlessly into our curriculum and providing our students with the skills they need to thrive in the 21st century.
As we embark on this academic journey together, we encourage parents and guardians to actively participate in their child’s education. Your support, involvement, and open communication are essential in creating a strong partnership between home and school. We look forward to collaborating with you and sharing in the joys and successes of your children.
We are happy to have you here, and hope this handbook provides you with some of the answers to your questions regarding T.H.E. Leadership Academy. We are thrilled to have you as part of our community and are confident that, together, we will empower our students to excel academically, develop essential life skills and become leaders of tomorrow.
Warm regards,
Kim Morton

Welcome to T.H.E. Leadership Academy!
I'm honored to serve as the Assistant Principal, now in my third year at T.H.E. Leadership Academy. Before moving into administration, I spent 10 wonderful years teaching kindergarten and later supported students and teachers across the district as part of our Multilingual Department. Those experiences shaped my belief that every child deserves to feel seen, inspired and capable of incredible growth.
Our school is a joyful place where students learn the 7 Habits, build leadership binders, explore hands-on learning in STEM Lab, the arts, and dance PE, and discover new passions through our many student-led clubs. I especially love our school traditions, Freaky Friday and Leadership Day, where students proudly share the amazing work they've done throughout the year. And of course, you can't miss our annual school musical from our Leader's Theatre Club. It is always a highlight of the year!
As a community school, we value strong partnerships with families. Thank you for being part of our caring, vibrant school community. I look forward to an inspiring year of learning and leadership together.
Warmly,
Lara Sims
